Week 5

This week in class we were talking about photojournalism. In the multi-media environment, being able to take photos to accompany your story is an important skill. We were given an exercise to pair up and head out to take photos, with our brief being “what are people doing around Auckland today?”. Photos are an important part of journalism. A story with photos will “incite public reaction” and “draw the reader in, urging them to learn more” (Caple, 2013, quoted from Michelle McNally). Photojournalism is a difficult area for me, as my limited fine motor skills can make it harder to use a camera. This problem was solve by me using a tripod.
